Ceramic Star Winner - Preservation Awards 2011
Awarding this Project their highest
honor for Rehabilitation, the Historic
Florida Keys Foundation noted that the
house was properly restored with
appropriate additions and a well detailed
interior. Indeed the exterior looks much
as it did when the house was built in
1933 yet the interior reflects the Owner's
wish for a simple, gallery-like space with
minimalist detailing, few materials and a
monochromatic color scheme.

We raised the structure on new
foundation piers, restored much of the
original exterior & interior wood siding,
retaining original windows where
possible, and built 2 new shed additions
housing the kitchen and showers. Floor
finishes alternate between ivory
limestone tile and black wenge wood
flooring.  The airy vaulted living area hosts
a full kitchen with appliances and laundry
hidden within custom wenge cabinetry.
The powder coated perforated steel stair
lends a translucent focus.

Unusual for Key West, the irregular
shaped lot inspired the rotated rear
terrace and pool, also clad with ivory
limestone.
